Just one day at a time…

When it comes to any kind of information this phenomenon is always present. The best way to avoid this is what I always try to practice, write it down!!!!
Well I would say that’s it, but that is not true. Names can be the most frustrating things. For example a relative might have in one census his name as JC Wyatt, the next census might have his name as Jacob Wyatt. Then when another census came it could have been documented as C Wyatt. Any number of reasons could be thought of as to why the variation, from personal reasons (such as a thick accent) to who the census taker was. At one point some families who could not support their children would send them to live with relatives, close or distant in relations and/or distance. This would make tracing any family member even more difficult. Also just like any daughter today, back then some would find themselves in a “condition” and they would also be sent away to live with other family. This would then require detective work to look through the family that was alive at the time who could have taken them in.
In the end for whatever reason, when it comes to family there is always a hint of complexity somewhere.

Well it is official I am a bad blogger. I make procrastination look busy. Has nothing been happening for me, No.
1. Growing season is coming to a close except the fall plants.
2. Still home schooling the kids.
3. Been baking and finding some great recipes!
4. Going to college full time.
5. Still doing genealogy research.
So I have indeed been busy. It is interesting how life puts you in certain places during certain opportunities. Having a pessimistic outlook from time to time defiantly does not help. Also people who know me come to me for advice. Breath Time to take pessimistic look and put it aside. A change maybe. One step at a time!

Change up…

Been writing a lot of genealogy post lately, time for a change up. Random post for the day is…

Gardening

I have recently went out and got some plants to grow one is a Heritage Raspberry, great for attracting butterflies and great in jams, fresh for the cane to eat and preserving. This is the one raspberry that is the judging stone for all other raspberries.

Next one I have is Anne Yellow Raspberry, sweeter then the red raspberry, is quickly making a name for itself. Of course it is without it controversy, some are not impressed with it. It is said to have a sweet mild taste with a hint of banana flavor. I will soon find out.

I got 2 of these plants, bluebell grapes. Great for making juice and jellies and for those wine connoisseurs out there it is said to be a great wine grape as well. This plant is cold hardy, early to ripen and very disease resistant. But be prepared it can grow 8-10′ high and 3-4′wide (along the fence).

Here is where you come into play, I am asking for your suggestion on what to grow (Zone 5). I will keep everyone aware of how the plants are doing, along with a picture. I look forward to seeing your suggestions.

I was talking to a friend who read one of my post and she had asked about Gardner family and if I had any more information on that family and so I give you my collection of sites for the Gardner family:

- A nice PDF to check out : Gardner A very simple straight forward trace of Thomas Gardner Jr who came to the Americas back in 1624 and settled in Salem, MA and his children, some of them that then moved to Nantucket.

- A scanned book that was published in 1907 is also available to read at Gardner Family History If you have time on your hands, a lot of personal story to the book but if you take the time you will find some useful information for research purposes.

- A chance to see things at a glance – not sure where to start, well start looking here in this page from Ancestry.com

- A chance to “show face” or in this case see people’s faces and add photos of your own to this site dedicate to the Gardner family album

-For those needing to look father back here is a site that has an old family bible information transcribed from the books pages conveniently to your internet access. I haven’t seen this before so take advantage of it and be sure to show your appreciation.

Family Story.

A story from another part of my family. To respect my grandma’s wishes I will leave out his name.

It was around the 1940′s being in the one of many paths of Hitler and his army many who lived in Belgium faced just as much of Hitler’s wrath and persecution. So it was flee or defend home. Some thinking that it would not last and Hitler would be stopped soon found as 1940 came and things no only didn’t end but escalated. My ancestor had a medical condition in which at the beginning didn’t seem like an issue, but being so close within a year that World War II started many neighboring countries soon felt the pinch and loss of supplies. Leaving a lot of people with the question of what to do. So in August 1940 for fear that he would drag his family down, he ended his life, by hanging himself. Such a tragedy and sad loss for all of those who had to make those choices.
